- a. A Public Relations & Marketing Plan to promote MSU as a "modern university" known for providing relevant, high quality undergraduate and graduate programs throughout
the region and state. The Public Relations and Marketing Committee will develop and implement a plan to examine the University brand and graphic standards to determine if the MSU is appropriately and consistently represented in all its communications internally and externally;
establish University academic reputation goals and identify strategies to strengthen the perception of MSU's academic reputation to constituent groups; examine the impact of the University name change to insure that institutional recognition and reputation are appropriately recognized; identify a
unified market position that presents the University to its constituencies including alumni, potential donors, the Greater Mankato community, the MnSCU Board of Trustees, the Minnesota Legislature, employers and key influencers as well as prospective and currently enrolled students; and assist in
the identification of institution-wide and segmented marketing strategies to advance the institutional position among identified constituent groups.
- b. An Enrollment Management Plan to determine the overall size of the University and the composition of the student body. The University Enrollment Management Committee will
review and evaluate existing plans for recruitment and retention, including plans for target populations identified as integral to the student body of a modern university: international students, students of
color, first-generation and low-income students, immigrant students, students of underserved populations, students of high academic abilities and special talents, students admitted on appeal
(contract students), post-secondary enrollment options students, and Extended Campus and distance education students. The Committee will also review and evaluate University programs, services
and initiatives that support the recruitment, retention, and graduation of students, including financial aid, scholarship, and student life programs. The Committee's findings will guide the establishment of goals for the recruitment and retention of undergraduate and graduate students.
- c. Continued development and refinement of the Campus Facilities Master Plan, including the integration of an outdoor recreation and athletic plan and the facilities plans
developed for the Student Union and Residential Life. The Campus Facilities Master Plan Committee will generate a plan to deliver information from the Master Planners to the campus community for information and feedback. The Committee will also recommend ways to
synthesize the multiple plans (CSU, Residential Life, Campus Recreation and Athletics) into a comprehensive campus master plan; develop a campus-wide Facilities Prioritization process; and integrate the Campus Master Plan with the Facilities Prioritization process. Work on the master
plan will be completed by a number of University committees and ad hoc teams
- d. Fundraising from the private sector – communicating our critical needs and goals to the private sector, and increasing support through a new campaign for endowment, scholarships, and
other needs. University Advancement division staff will collaborate with the MSU Foundation and faculty and staff across campus to achieve these goals.
MSU will develop a comprehensive plan that promotes diversity across all levels of the University community. The plan will identify and implement strategies for searching, hiring, and retaining a
diverse faculty and staff, and for recruiting and retaining students of diverse background. Current efforts will be assessed and new and revised action plans will be developed.
MSU will create an administrative structure and funding mechanisms that will support high quality distance learning instruction. This will include technology, e-learning, and mediated distance courses.
MSU will develop funding mechanisms which permit the institution to grow and improve select graduate programs – on-campus, off-campus, technologically mediated distance, and hybrid.
MSU will continue to assess and improve academic programs, and uphold and strengthen standards for academic achievement.
Minnesota State University, Mankato will promote study abroad experiences for domestic students, to enrich the multi-cultural environment, to enhance services, and to increase the number of international students studying at MSU.
MSU seeks to identify deliberate ways to assist the University community in optimizing health and wellness in an effort to enhance intellectual proficiency, job performance, and overall individual well being.
