Communiqué #3 to the Campus Community
from President Wilson G. Bradshaw, Search Committee Chair
The second meeting of the Presidential Search Committee was held on Friday,
September 7, 2001. Following President Boubel's welcome and
greetings on behalf of the campus community, the committee
turned to the day's agenda. Highlights of the working meeting
included the following:
- Chancellor James McCormick joined the committee briefly,
discussing the importance of their task and explaining the
charge to the committee from
the Board and the Chancellor (the charge will be posted
on the committee's web-site shortly);
- President Bradshaw introduced Dr. Ted Lewis of Academic Search, the firm
retained by MnSCU and the university to support the search
process (more information about Dr. Lewis is in "Communique
#2," on the web-site);
- Dr. Lewis led a discussion of the search process, including a summary of the many forums he had attended on campus during the previous two days;
- The committee fine-tuned the search timeline
(see the search web-site);
- The committee completed the position
announcement (also to be posted on the web-site) that
will appear this month in the Chronicle of Higher Education
and other strategic publications.
Following the working meeting, the committee adjourned to Ostrander Auditorium for a public forum hosted by President Boubel. President Bradshaw summarized the committee's work to date, introduced Dr. Lewis to the university community, and referred the audience to the Presidential Search web-site for current information about all aspects of the search as it progresses.
The committee's next meeting is scheduled for October 8,
2001, to be followed by "Communiqué
#4."
