The Corrections major prepares students for careers in Corrections with a sociological framework that incorporates multiculturalism, social class, gender, and critical transformation of the field.
Students will learn research-supported practices in the field of Corrections. They will gain a sound understanding of the criminal justice system, a vision of what it could become, and the desire, skills, and knowledge to make the ideal a reality. Throughout coursework, students will demonstrate a commitment to the principles of social justice, respect, support and belief in the inherent dignity and worth of all individuals. |Other Requirements||We value and promote experiential learning through field practice placements (internships), volunteering opportunities, service learning requirements, mentoring experiences, student portfolios, tours to correctional institutions, interactions with professionals in the field, and a capstone experience.|
