Program Description Students study education content and pedagogy to develop expertise in teaching children from birth through grade 3. Early childhood majors engage in clinical experiences throughout their coursework in nearby early learning environments and elementary schools. The program culminates in experiences in student teaching. This major prepares students to become licensed in Minnesota to work with children from birth through Grade 3.

Admission Requirements The department will recommend for admission only those applicants who attended orientation to professional education and complete an application. A complete application packet contains the following documents:
  • Evidence of the Basic Skills test, if the Academic Advising Office has not received your Basic Skills test scores already
  • Evidence of writing skill assessment
  • Other materials (letters of recommendation, etc.)
Application deadline must be adhered to for consideration for the upcoming semester's coursework enrollment. Prior to the upcoming semester's registration, the Academic Advising Office will send an email notifying the applicant of his/her admission status.
