| Program Description | This degree is designed for the student planning a career as a performing musician, college teacher, or studio teacher. Entrance into the program requires a formal recommendation by the applied teacher before the end of the Freshman year. Before being considered for the program, the applicant must demonstrate ability as a performer. The Bachelor of Music is offered in Voice, Piano, Percussion, Winds, and Strings. |

| Other Requirements | Entering music majors and minors are expected to have substantial musical experience performing with church or school ensembles, or as a soloist. Before admission to the major or minor, music literacy (the ability to read musical notation) must be demonstrated. Though Minnesota State Mankato does offer a course in basic music-reading skills, it is strongly advised that you begin those studies prior to arriving. |
