| Program Description | Since 1953, Minnesota State University School of Nursing has offered a basic program leading to a bachelor of science degree with a major in nursing. In 2003 an accelerated nursing program was added enabling individuals with prior baccalaureate degrees the ability to achieve a baccalaureate degree in nursing within 15 months. Graduates from these programs are prepared for entry level professional nursing positions and have a foundation for graduate study. Students are prepared to take the national licensing examination (NCLEX), are qualified for public health nurse certification and meet the requirements for school nurse licensure. In 1974 the SON developed an RN Option (the RN Baccalaureate Completion Program) for registered nurses interested in professional advancement by attaining a baccalaureate degree. This option uses a distance education format for course delivery. All of these programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing (CCNE) and are approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. |
