DARS and Transfer Work

DARS has as its main function checking students' progress toward their graduation requirements. However, DARS is also capable of translating coursework from other schools into Minnesota State University, Mankato coursework. In short, DARS can do transfer evaluations.

Not all students will have their transfer work evaluated by DARS, however. Only those students admitted to the University from Fall 2003 onward have their transfer work entered into DARS and therefore showing on their audits.

Students admitted prior to Fall 2003 do not have any of their transfer courses showing on audits. Instead, these students will still be using the hand-written evaluation sheets they were given upon transfering to Minnesota State University, Mankato. This document, in conjunction with their DARS audits should provide the necessary information.

Newly admitted transfer students receive a special kind of DARS audit--a transfer audit. This audit focuses solely on transfer work and contains no classes taken at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The transfer audit replaces the hand-written evaluation sheet, while providing a bit more information.

Transfer audits basically provide information about how a student's transfer courses fit into general education categories. They also give information concerning the number of credits accepted in transfer and the GPA for those credits. Here are two examples of transfer audits: example 1; example 2.
