The MN Prosperity Act went into effect on July 1st, 2013. This state legislation allows undocumented immigrant students to be eligible for resident tuition, if they meet all requirements. The Prosperity Act also extends eligibility to these students for Minnesota State Grants and for private scholarships that may now be awarded through Minnesota State colleges and universities.
In order to qualify, undocumented immigrant students must meet ALL of the following:
- Completed 3 or more years of high school in Minnesota
- Graduated from high school in Minnesota, or obtained a GED in Minnesota
- Compliant with Selective Service Requirements (Males between the ages of 18 and 25 must register with the U.S. Selective Service System)
Documentation is required to validate the above requirements. Once all requirements are met and validated, the special tuition rate will then be applied to the student's record. The appeal form to submit can be found here: MN Prosperity Act Appeal form Upon submission of the form and documentation, please allow 5-7 business days for processing.
