Ladies of Gamma Phi Beta,

Remember not only your sister, but your strong bond in sisterhood. It is time to stand next to each other, hold each other's hands and savor your time with one another. Far and away your sisters present and past are here to support you. Be strong and lead your life in a way of strong remembrance of a fallen and injured sister. Be the strength Corrine will need to get through the days. Your support will be the driving force to succeed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Subject: Rissa

I will always have fond memories of Rissa from highschool. She was one-of-a-kind, the type of person who would never intentionally do harm to anyone. Rissa was beautiful inside and out, and was always an open hearted friend to me, an excellent listener. Much love to her family and friends.

Subject: rissa

I attended USD with Rissa in the fall of 04. She lived a few doors down from me on third beede so we quickly got to know each other. We only had one class together but spent a lot of time together outside of class. We had so much fun together. There are so many memories of us. I left the u in dec of 04. When I left I had a piece of carpet that had covered the floor in my dorm room. At this time rissa had moved to the fourth floor of mickleson, quit a long ways away. Since she didn't have a carpet and the rooms were exactly the same we thought she should just have it. So the two of us carried this HUGE piece of carpet down three flights of stairs, across the north complex and up four more flights of stairs to her room. We had to stop many many times for three reasons. One it was so heavy we could hardly do it. Two we were pretty tired from the night before, all we wanted was taco johns. And three we could not stop laughing. We must have looked like complete morons. Although after we were done, a good 2 hours later, we went to taco johns. Rissa introduced me to a bean burrito with cheese and sour cream. That is now, all I eat at taco johns.

Rissa and I were in young republicans together and we a part of the Thune campaign in fall 04. We spent a lot of time together for this. Rissa was so passionate about politics, this was one of the reasons we were so close. We went door to door to register people to vote, and to poll them. We had more fun driving around.

Rissa was such a wonderful person, always so bright and happy. She was one of my best friends at the U, and when I learned I was pregnant, she was my rock. She used to lie in bed with me when I cried and just talk me through it. She will be missed by so many people.

I will pray for your family everyday.

Love you rissa roo..

Subject: hope you're ok

This letter is for Corrine Overstake,
Corrine, I just heard about the accident this afternoon from an old friend, and I couldn't believe it. I am so sorry to hear about your friend but very glad to hear you are doing better. Losing someone close to you is one of the hardest things a person goes through in life, I know from personal experience and I want to give you some support in dealing with this tragedy. The best advice I can give you is to not get down on yourself for what happened, it will only make you feel worse. You will have a very hard time accepting what happened, especially given your outcome of the situation but the acceptance will come with time and you'll feel much better. Just take it all one day at a time and you'll find peace and happiness. I am praying you will have a fast recovery and a fast healing process. I am also praying for your friends family and your family. I am sure your family is by your side and helping you through all of this because you have a great family who loves you very much and a ton of friends I'm sure who will be by your side during this hard time in your life. Again I am SO glad to hear you're getting better and I wish and pray for the best for you. I know its been a while but I its never too late to be there for an old friend in some way so let me know if I can do anything for you even if its to talk, I feel like I can maybe help with support so if its something you're interested in let me know, you can email me back.
Praying for your fast recovery, Alicea Schablin
