Halls Closed

The residence halls close for Winter Break at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 14 and reopen for Spring Semester at 8:00 a.m. Friday, January 11.  Read more about Winter Break.

Maverick 160 Meal Plan: Convert Meals to Flex Dollars

Students with the Maverick 160 meal plan may convert any of the 160 meals a semester into Flex Dollars, at a rate of $5.10 per meal, twice a semester (by November 30 for fall semester).  Stop by the Residential Life office at 111 Carkoski Commons or convert your meals online.

Need to Change Your Meal Plan?

You can change your meal plan for Spring Semester to the AnyTime, Maverick 160, or 14 meal plan.  Please come to the Residential Life office early to fill out a Meal Plan Change Request form.

Graduating or Leaving Campus?

If you plan to leave the University for any reason, including graduation, you must complete and turn in a Contract Release Request form to the Residential Life Office no later than 4:30 p.m. Monday, November 26.  After this day, approved contract release requests are subject to an additional $20 administrative charge.  See page 33 of your Residential Life Student Guide or online at www.mnsu.edu/reslife for more information about contract releases and situations under which releases are granted.

Have a Final on Saturday or Graduating?

If you are participating in graduation events or have a saturday final, please contact your Area Director by Tuesday, December 4 to stay in your room until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15.

Changing Rooms for Spring Semester

If you would like to move to a different room for spring semester, submit your request to the front desk of your community by noon Friday, December 7.  If you are changing rooms for spring semester, you must move to your spring room before Winter Break begins.  Room change opportunities resume Monday, January 28.

Getting a New Roommate

If you are currently living alone in a room for two residents (or there is a vacant space in your triple bedroom apartment), or if your current roommate is not returning for Spring Semester, you will be assigned a new roommate.  So, before you leave for break, make sure that a bed, a desk, a desk chair, and closet space are avilable for your new roommate and that your room is clean.  Failure to do so may resut in a minimum cleaning charge of $30.00 and a conduct hearing.  The Department of Residential Life will notify you by e-mail over the break when you are assigned a roomate.

Leaving Your Car On Campus Over Winter Break

Only residents who are registered to stay in the residence communities over Winter Break may keep their cars in on-campus parking lots.  If you are going home over break you must take your car with you or find other parking arrangements.  Unregistered cars may be subject to towing.

Stadium Heights residents may keep their cars in the small parking lot in front of building 701.

If you plan to have a vehicle on campus during Winter Break, please bring the license plate number from your vehicle when you register. 


 Suite Residents: Be Prepared for Winter Bathroom Inspections




Residents with in-room bathrooms, can avoid potential cleaning charges by having bathrooms ready for Winter Break inspections. Bathrooms that do not meet the inspection guidelines will be cleaned by University staff, and roommates will be held jointly responsible for cleaning charges. Watch your mailbox for cleaning tips to help you. Inspections are scheduled for
