Residence Communities Closed

The residence communities close for Winter Break at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 14.  The residence communities reopen for returning students at 8:00 a.m. Friday, January 11.

 

 

    

Access to Residence Communities

From 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 14 until 8:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, the residence communities will be closed for Winter Break.  Your MavCARD will allow you entry into the access doors regularly used at night.

 

Food Service

Breakfast and lunch will be the only meals served on Friday, December 14.  Lunch is the last meal to be served in the dining hall before Winter Break.  The dining hall closes at 1:30 p.m.that day.  There will be limited service available in the Student Union during the Winter Break period.  The first meal of spring semester is lunch on Friday, January 11.

 

Staff

Residential Life staff will be on duty in the residence communities during break.  A Hall Director will be on duty at all times and CAs will be on duty from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. daily.  Names and phone numbers of duty staff will be posted in each community.

Security will provide an escort for anyone who wishes to have one.  To contact University Security, call 507-389-2111.

 

Mail and Desk Service

The front desks will be open from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. daily except for December 24, 25, and January 1.  If you are staying for the break, your mail will be put in your mailbox Monday-Friday on days when the front desk is open.  You may also pick up packages, check out equipment, etc. while the desk is open.

Stadium Heights

Desk hours at Stadium Heights will be posted and mail delivery will follow the U.S. Postal Service's schedule.

 

Guests

Only those students who are signed up and paid for Winter Break housing are authorized to be in the residence communities.  You may have one guest at a time for up to three nights per visit.  A guest is considered a person who is not a resident.  (Residents who have not paid for break housing may NOT visit as guests.)

If asked, your guest must present a picture ID to Residential Life staff of University security.  You must escort your guest at all times in the residence communities.  You are responsible for your guests.

Yellow guest parking permits are not required from December 12 through January 11.  Stadium Heights residents should contact the Property Owner's office for information about guest parking at Stadium Heights over the break.
