Important Spring Dates and Information

Here’s what residents need to know before leaving for Spring Break.  

Communities Closed

The communities will be LOCKED for break at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015. The last meal will be served in the dining hall until 6:00 p.m. that evening.

The residence communities will be UNLOCKED at noon Sunday, March 15, 2015.  The first meal served in the dining hall will be dinner beginning at 4:00 p.m. that evening.  

Spring Break Housing

Sign up at the front desk of your residence community between Wednesday, February 25 and  Wednesday, March 4 to stay in your room over Spring Break.

There is no charge to stay on campus during Spring Break. 

Before you leave for Spring Break, be sure to:

1. CLOSE and LOCK your windows.
2. Take out your garbage.
3. Return all To-Go Meal containers to the Carkoski Dining Hall.
4. Turn off the alarm on your clock.
5. Close blinds if on the first floor.
6. Turn off and unplug your computer and electronics.
7. Turn off all lights.
8. CLOSE and LOCK your room door.

A staff member will be checking your room on Friday to help secure the building. If policy violations are observed while staff is securing the building, staff will document the violation and follow-up when the resident returns. During the break period, all residence community and University policies remain in effect.

If You Choose to Stay on Campus for Spring Break:

Students may stay in their own rooms during the time the residence communities are locked. For security reasons, students who want to stay on campus beyond 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6 must register at their front desk by Wednesday, March 4. There is no charge to stay on-campus during Spring Break.  Anyone in the residence communities over break who did not register will be charged an administrative fee of $50 and may be subject to disciplinary proceedings. During the break period, all residence community and University policies remain in effect.

Community front desks in Crawford, McElroy, Julia Sears, and Preska will be open daily from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Stadium Heights desk is open from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. daily.

Students living in Julia Sears, Crawford, McElroy, Preska and Stadium Heights will be able to use their MavCARD to unlock specified doors in the buildings. 

Leaving Your Car On Campus Over Spring Break

Only residents who are registered to stay in the Crawford, McElroy, Julia Sears and Preska residence communities over Spring Break may keep their vehicles in on-campus parking lots. If you are leaving over the break, you must take your vehicle with you or find other parking arrangements. 

Crawford, McElroy, Julia Sears and Preska residents staying on campus over Spring Break must park their vehicles in Lot 13 or Lot 14.  Stadium Heights residents park in Lot 751.

In the event of a snow emergency, you are responsible for moving your vehicle in accordance with parking guidelines.
