Additional information you may find helpful, but they are not listed individually on this page.

Bedding and Linen

Students must provide their own bedding and pillows. Apartment beds have standard length full-size mattresses. These mattresses are not extra long.

Direct Online Access to the Internet

Residents in all communities are able to access the Minnesota State Mankato computer systems and high-speed Internet from wired outlets in their room. Wireless Internet access is available in all student rooms, and in the public areas of all residence communities.

Electrical Appliances

The Department of Residential Life reserves the right to restrict appliances that pose a danger to the residence halls. Specifically, the following appliances are not allowed in the apartments: charcoal grills, gas grills, refrigerators over 3.6 amps (except the refrigerator provided by residential life in the kitchen), freezers, halogen lamps, and appliances with an open heating element or flame.

Microwaves

Microwaves less than 1000 Watts may be brought to campus for use in apartments.  A microwave is also provided in each floor community kitchen.  Apartment furnishings do not include a microwave.

Putty

Pictures and posters may be hung on the walls of your room using poster putty or other adhesive material that will not damage your walls. You should bring all of those special things that will make your room feel like home. Personalizing your room is strongly encouraged and we suggest that you bring your favorite things.

Refrigerators

Compact refrigerators brought to campus must be in good working condition, must have a rated amperage from 1.4 to 3.6, and are subject to inspection. Full-size refrigerators are not permitted in the residence halls except the refrigerator provided by residential life in the on-campus apartment kitchens.

Telephones

Most students use cellular phones for their personal communication needs. Local (wired) phone service can be made available in rooms - please contact the Residential Life office for information and rates.

Television/Stereo Cable

Each residence hall room and apartment bedroom is equipped with a cable television/stereo hook-up. You should provide your own coaxial cable. The cost of the basic cable service (68 television and 25 FM radio channels including HBO and Showtime) is included in your room and board charges.
