Roommates

Because of many new housing applicants and cancellations over the summer, roommate information frequently changes. In order to provide you with more accurate information, your roommate's name, address, and phone number will be available online beginning July 20.
See who your roommate is through E-Services beginning July 20.

Your Room: Dimensions, Floor Plan, and Other Details

Once you know your room assignment, you can view the floor plan for your room, check the size of the mattress, and determine whether or not your room has a University-provided loft.

Loft and Refrigerator Rentals

If your room has bunkable beds and you wish to rent a loft, you may do so through BedLoft.com. Refrigerators may also be rented from this company.

Cancellations and Your Housing Contract

Contracts may be canceled and $200 of the $250 prepayment will be refunded if your cancellation is received by July 1, 2010. Cancellations must be in writing and postmarked by July 1 or have been received in our office via email by July 1.

Please make certain you are completely familiar with the terms of your Residence Hall Contract. Your signed contract is on file and we will send you a copy upon request. This contract is legally binding for the entire academic year, and you should be sure you understand your contractual responsibilities to Minnesota State University, Mankato. Pay particular attention to the Cancellation and Release sections of the contract (Sections 9 and 10) and the Check-in and Check-out section (Section 13a).

Billing

Billing statements will not be mailed to students. Students can obtain account information and payment procedures online. Account information will be available early August.

Move-In Day

Residence Hall Move-In Day is Thursday, August 19, 2010. This is the first day new students may move in.

Parking

Once you know your room assignment, you can apply online for a parking permit. Students living on campus are eligible for overnight green permits.

Computer Recommendations: Connecting to the Internet in Your Residence Hall Room

The following specifications applied to the 2009-2010 academic year. Watch this space for more information about computer specifications in June.

To get connected to the wired Internet in your room, you will need to bring:
1. A computer with an Ethernet adapter or card.
2. An Ethernet cable (Cat 5 10/100Base-T cable with RJ-45 connectors) in order to connect your computer to the network port in your room.

To access the internet through a wireless connection in the public areas in the residence halls and on campus, bring a computer (laptop) that also has a wireless Ethernet adapter or card.

When You Arrive On Campus

You will find information in your room regarding the user agreement, and set up instructions on how to register your computer to the network.

Recommendations

Below are recommended configurations for desktops. If you are buying a new computer, it is best to purchase one with an Ethernet adapter pre-installed. This can be on-board, or a separate card already installed as long as the machine has an Ethernet port. You can also buy a separate Ethernet card (nic) for your system.
