Living on Campus Next Year

Living on Campus in 2012-2013 for Current Students

Current students take part in the Room Draw and Room Selection for the opportunity to live on campus in 2012-2013.  In this two-part process, students first apply for the Room draw (October 31 - November 13) and then those students randonly selected from the Room Draw have the opportunity to participate in Room Selection.

Room Draw

Due to the limited number of current residents who may return to live on campus next year, we have implemented a Room Draw to determine which students will have the opportunity to select a room during the Room Selection period.  Entering your name into the Room Draw is the first step if you are interested in living on campus for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Apply for the Room Draw: October 31-November 13

Students may apply for the Room Draw online or complete a Room Draw entry form in the Residential Life office at 111 Carkoski Commons.  The Residential Life office is open Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  The online form will be available beginning October 31.  There is no fee to enter the Rom Draw.

Entering the Room Draw does not obligate you to live on campus next year, not does it guarantee that you will be offered an opportunity to choose a room.

Find more information on our website for current residents:

Thanksgiving Break Housing

Sign up at the front desk of your residence community between October 31 and November 18 to stay in your room over Thanksgiving Break.

There is no charge to stay on campus during Thanksgiving Break.  The halls will be locked for the break at 7:00 p.m.  Wednesday, November 23 and will reopen at noon Sunday, November 27.

Limited Hot Water on Friday

Friday, October 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m hot water and heating systems will be shut down due to contruction of the Margaret R. Preska Residence Community.  You may experience cooler than normal temperatures and hot water will be limited.

Don't Break Your Washer!

Please do not use the 3-in-1 laundry sheets in the residence hall washing machines.  They get caught in the washer drains, and then the washer is out of service.  Please use only liquid detergent.

Graduating or Leaving Campus?

If you plan to leave the University for any reason, including graduation, you must complete and turn in a Contract Release form to the Residential Life Office no later than 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 29.  After this day, approved Contract Release requests are subject to an additional $20 administrative charge.  See page 32 of you Residence Hall Student Guide or online at for more information about contract releases and situations under which releases are granted.

Change Rooms for Spring Semester

If you would like to move to a different room for spring semester, submit your request to the front desk of your community by noon Friday, December 2. Staying on Campus During Winter Break

All current residents who will also live on campus spring semester may stay during the break.  If you are changing rooms for spring semester, you must move to your spring room before the break begins.  The halls close for Winter Break at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 9.  The halls reopen for returning students at 8:00 a.m. Friday, January 6.
