Sign Up To Live On Campus Next Year!

Current residents living on campus have the opportunity to live on campus in 2014-2015. As a returning student, you may hand-pick your room for next year during Room Selection: 

  • Same Room Sign-Up: Choose the same room you live in now until Saturday, November 9.
  • Same Hall Sign-Up: Choose a room in the same hall you live in now between Monday, November 11 and Saturday, November 16.
  • Any Room Sign-Up: Choose any available room or apartment in any residence community between Monday, November 18 and Monday, March 31.

Quantities are Limited
A limited number of each room type is available.  Don't miss your chance to live on campus next year!

Choose Your Room Online
Make your $250 prepayment, agree to the housing contract terms, and choose your space for next year all online. If you want to make your prepayment by cash, check, or money order, please come to the Residential Life office at 111 Carkoski Commons to make your payment PRIOR to choosing your room online.

Roommates
Sign up online and send an "invitation" to your friend to live with you through E-services. Don't have someone to room with yet?  Try RoomSync using Facebook to find someone with similar interests, sleeping habits, etc.

Live In Stadium Heights Next Year: Take A Tour!

Residential Life is offering tours of Stadium Heights Residence Community Apartments from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday,
November 13.  Tours will begin at the Residential Life Stadium Heights Office.

Beginning Monday, November 18 current residents in any community may reserve a room in Stadium Heights for the 2014-2015 academic year!

 

Residence Hall Rates And Improvements For 2014-2015

The Residence Hall Association is discussing residence hall rates and potential improvements for next year.  The association will be making recommendations on what to do.  Join your floor/building RHA representative on Mondays at 4:00 p.m. in Preska 126 to get in on the discussion.

 

Thanksgiving Break Housing

Sign up at the front desk of your residence community between now and November 22 to stay in your room over Thanksgiving Break.

There is no charge to stay on campus during Thanksgiving Break.  The communities will be locked for the break at 7:00 p.m.  Wednesday, November 27 and will reopen at noon Sunday, December 1.  Food service ends on
November 27 at 6:00 p.m. and begins again at 4:30 p.m. on December 1 for the evening meal.

Graduating Or Leaving Campus?

Students leaving the University for any reason, including graduation, must complete and turn in a Contract Release Request form to the Residential Life office no later than 4:30 p.m. Monday, December 2.  There is a $30 administrative fee for an approved contract release.  After this day, approved Contract Release requests are subject to an additional $20 administrative charge.  See page 33 of your Residential Life Student Guide or online at www.mnsu.edu/reslife for more information.

 

Changing Rooms For Spring Semester

Students interested in moving to a different room for spring semester, must submit a request to the front desk of their community by noon Friday, December 6.  If changing rooms for spring semester, moves must be completed by 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 13.  Room change opportunities resume Monday, January 27.

 

Winter Break Sign-Up

All current residents who will also live on campus spring semester are eligible to stay during the break. The communities close for Winter Break at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 13.  The communities reopen at 8:00 a.m. Friday, January 10.

Residents of Crawford, McElroy, Preska, and Julia Sears

Register in the Residential Life office between Monday, November 11 and Friday, December 6 to be eligible for the early sign-up rate of $325.  Those who register after December 6 pay $375.

Residents of Stadium Heights

Register in the Residential Life office between Monday, November 11 and Friday, December 13.  The Winter Break fee has already been included in the Stadium Heights apartment rate, so there is no additional charge to stay provided you register for Winter Break housing by December 13.  Those who register after December 13 pay $50.

Congratulations Student Leaders!

Ten Residential Life student leaders traveled to St. Louis, MO, October 25-27 to attend the Midwest Affiliate (MACURH) of the National Association of College and University Residence Hall's (NACUH) regional conference.  The residence hall students attended the conference to learn, grow, and bring new ideas back to our campus! 

We would like to congratulate students/groups that received awards at the conference:

Congratulations to Jillian Dotas, a CA in McElroy and President of NRHH, and Amanda Anderson, a CA in Julia Sears and NRHH VP, for their program "W.O.W. that's H.O.T." being voted one of the top 10 programs of the conference.

Congratulations to the 2012-2013 H4 Community Council for being voted the Residential Community Of The Month (OTM) for Community Service Program of the month for May!

Congratulations to the spring 2013 Residential Life Leadership Experience Class for receiving the Of The Month (OTM) for Community Service Program of the month for May!

So You Think You Can Lead!

Join us from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15 for an AWESOME leadership event starting in Preska 126!  This will be an interactive and informative event with a lot of different opportunities and speakers, including Dr. David Jones, Minnesota State Mankato's Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.  There will be presentations on Servant Leadership from the Community Engagement Office, Entrepreneurial Leadership from representatives from The Herd, and Extrovert vs. Introvert Leadership by NRHH.

We will also have representatives from many different organizations around campus available to talk with you about ways to get involved and engaged in our campus.  Contact matt.goff@mnsu.edu with questions.

Apply For $1,000 Chester And Helen Carkoski Scholarships

Apply for two $1,000 Chester and Helen Carkoski Scholarship Awards to be granted in January. This program recognizes residence community student leaders with a good academic record and who have demonstrated volunteer leadership and service in the residence communities.

Have you lived on campus for two full semesters by the conclusion of this semester? Are you looking to gain more leadership experience? Would you like to help current residents have a great spring semester? Consider applying to be a CA for the Spring Semester 2014!

Spring Community Advisor Applications are available on the employment section of the Residence Life website through November 12.

Maverick 160 Meal Plan: Three Weeks Left To Convert Meals To Flex Dollars

Students with the Maverick 160 meal plan may convert any of the 160 meals a semester into Flex Dollars at a rate of $5.25 per meal, twice a semester (by November 30 for fall semester).  Stop by the Residential Life office at 111 Carkoski Commons or Convert Meals to Flex Dollars online.
