Read Why You Hear Plant Noise and Steam on Campus

You may be wondering about that "loud noise and steam" coming from the west side of campus lately. High pressure boilers are used on campus to generate heat for our buildings.  When it is cold outside, more steam is generated and needs to be released until the pressure is balanced.  When that happens, steam is blown from the plant stack and produces a loud sound and plume when the hot water steam hits the cold air. This is not on any specific schedule as it happens when an additional boiler is needed.

Copyright Infringement Enforcement

The law requires all residence community residents respect copyright holders materials that may be available through the Internet. Internet user agreements between Minnesota State Mankato, residents, and the residence community Internet provider, Charter Communications, are included in this law.  When downloading a copyrighted item (including music, videos, movies, books, art work, etc.) it is the responsibility of the downloader to make sure that they are legally downloaded, frequently requiring a fee.

Register all New Technology Devices; Re-register all Devices from Fall Semester

Please note that devices you may have already used on campus this fall and new technology devices you are bringing to campus this spring will need to be registered. Devices should prompt you through this process once on campus. Any questions regarding this authentication process, in addition to internet questions should be directed to ResTech services.

Additional ResTech Service Information

Contact ResTech Services with Internet Service Questions

Internet service is better when an ethernet cord is used to plug your device into the wall jack.  Restart your device so it connects to the hard-wired Internet jack instead of searching for the wireless.  If problems persist see ResTech Services.  Improvements to wireless service are planned and will be implemented in summer 2015.
