Read on for important details about applying for summer housing, the assignment process, and different housing options.
Eligibility
Summer Housing is available for students enrolled in at least one summer course at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Space is limited and assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Interim I Housing is available from May 12- May 18 for individuals currently living in the residence halls and are enrolled for a class that begins on May 21. Interim II Housing is available for individuals with a Fall Semester 2007 housing contract and who are enrolled in a course ending on or after July 27.
Summer Housing Calendar
Reserve a space in Summer Housing
In the Department of Residential Life office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. Reservations are also accepted by mail.
Receive your room assignment
On or after April 25, you will be notified of your room assignment, room type, and roommate information.
Interim Housing I
Current residents stay in the residence halls from May 10 to May 16.
Note: From the evening of Sunday, May 11 through Sunday, May 17 there will be no hot water in most residence halls. Students staying for Interim I will receive more information about accessing bathrooms with hot water.
Summer Session
Halls open for students moving in on May 17 and close July 25.
Five-week Module I
Halls open for students moving in on May 17. The housing term ends June 20.
Five-week Module II
Halls open for students moving in on June 21. The housing term ends
July 25.
Two-week and Three-week Modules
Halls open the Saturday prior to each module and close the last Friday of each module.
Interim Housing II
Students living on campus July 25 and have a Fall 2008 Housing Contract may apply to stay on campus from July 26 through August 19. Halls open for Fall Semester August 20.
Applying For Summer Housing
Complete the Summer 2008 Housing Application. Indicate your priority on the application regarding room type. Due to limited space, we cannot guarantee we will be able to honor your room type request or make a guarantee of roommate compatibility.
Carefully read both sides of the Residence Hall Contract. It is a binding agreement for the duration of the period indicated on your application. Sign and date the bottom of the contract. If you are under 18 years of age, a guardian’s signature is also required.
Return your Housing Application and the Residence Hall Contract, along with your payment, to the Department of Residential Life. You will receive your copy of the contract when you are notified of your room assignment and room type on or after April 27.
Room Types
Thre types of rooms are available: doubles, singles, and full-bath suites. Full-bath suites are very limited and are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
Location
Summer and Interim Housing is available in our newly remodeled Crawford D Hall. Each room includes an air conditioner, and each floor has a study lounge, a kitchenette, and private shower areas.

All Minnesota State Mankato Residence Halls are smokefree.
Rates and Payment
Payment of the double room rate is due in full at the time of application for Interim Housing or Five-, Three-, or Two-Week Modules. One half of the room rate is due at the time of application for the full 10 week session. The remaining balance is due on or before June 6, 2008.

*Rates have been reduced for housing during Interim sessions because of potential scheduled maintenance inconveniences. Such maintenance may result in, but is not limited to: periods of no hot water, more distant parking due to lot paving, and closure of public spaces for renovation.
Cancellations
Summer Session (10 weeks)
Contracts may be cancelled without financial obligation if written notice of cancellation is received by Residential Life on or before May 2.
Written cancellation received by Residential Life from May 3 to May 16 will result in a charge of $30.
Requests for cancellation received after May 16 will not be honored and applicants will be liable for all contractual costs.
Five-week Modules
Contracts may be cancelled without financial obligation if written notice of cancellation is received by the Department of Residential Life on or before May 2 (Module I) or June 6 (Module II).
Written notice of cancellation received by the Department of Residential Life from May 3 to May 16 (Module I) or June 7 to June 20 (Module II) will result in a $30 charge.
Requests for cancellation after May 16 (Module I) or June 20 (Module II) will not be honored and applicants will be liable for all contractual costs.
Two- and Three-week Modules
Contracts may be cancelled without financial obligation if written notice of cancellation is received by Residential Life 14 days prior to the start of the module.
Written notice of cancellation received by Residential Life less than 14 days prior to the start of the module will result in a charge of $30.
