Economic vitality :
Workforce in the retail sector, 2006

In Minnesota, 10.8% of the workforce worked in the retail sector in 2006, and Crow Wing County had the highest percentage of its workforce in retail, at 16.5%. The map shows fairly clearly where the large retail centers are around the state: regional centers in Blue Earth, Freeborn, Douglas and Beltrami counties, and large shopping meccas in Steele, Wright and Washington counties. Although the Twin Cities has some of the highest total earnings in retail, its low percentage of workforce in retail compared to the rest of the state shows a more diversified economy.
