Economic vitality :
Women in the workforce, 2000

Minnesota has the highest rate of women in the workforce in the nation, with 66% of women 16 years of age and older participating in the labor force as of 2000. This is well over the U.S. average of 57.5%. Within the state, the highest rate of women in the workforce can be seen in the counties surrounding the core counties of Hennepin and Ramsey, but high percentages also appear in counties with large manufacturing centers like Nicollet, Olmsted and Roseau.
