Director of health services – 6 years. I’ve stayed because I have a great staff who is committed to the needs of students and who care about the campus community. I have a background in health and business and my favorite experiences have been working with grass roots organizations where the rules have been dictated by the energy of those compassionate about an issue and not driven by policy and procedure. Professional development opportunities include attending and speaking at conference all over the US – including NY, Minneapolis, Washington DC, New Orleans, San Francisco and Las Vegas.
Diversity is important because it provides an appreciation and acceptance for all individuals. Learning is about understanding and we can’t understand if we are not open to differences. The best experiences of my life have been the ones that allowed me to challenge my own beliefs and be open to the views of others. A diverse campus must commit to providing this for all – in its academics, its service learning, it clubs and organizations and its programs and services. A campus must reflect those who attend or may wish to - I’m glad to see MSU moving in this direction.
