Tell us about yourself

I’ve been the Director of the Women’s Center here at Minnesota State Mankato since 2000. I can’t imagine a better job! I get to help students every day. Each week seems to present a new challenge and unearth new resources and program partners

Why is a diverse campus important to you?

Due to the nature of my work, I get to be a part of many gendered and multicultural administrative processes and student programs. As a lesbian, I work to offer support to queer and allied students and staff. I serve as an advisor to SAGE, MSU’s queer student organization, and on the local Pridefest planning committee. It’s important to me to be directly involved in confronting bias, privilege and oppression on our campus and in our community. What I like best about working in Student Affairs is it’s easy to find great colleagues who are eager to share this work to best serve our students.

Hobbies, interests, community involvement

I love to spend time with friends, watching movies, going out for dinner and drinks, taking trips up to the Twin Cities, and generally hanging out. At home with my two cats, I enjoy reading, knitting and other needle crafts that I promised my Mother as a teenager would never interest me. I currently serve as Co-Chair for teh Student Affairs Employee Diversity Committee.
