Mission Statement

The Wood Scholarship rewards Political Science and International Relations students at MSU, Mankato, who are involved in community service. The scholarship criteria are:

  •  creativity and community involvement
  •  problem-solving abilities
  •  community contributions
The WS Board

The Wood Scholarship Board was formed in January 1994. It is composed of friends and former students of Dr. Truman Wood and Reta Wood.

Truman was a 30-year member of the Political Science and Law Enforcement Department at MSU, Mankato. Reta Wood taught elementary school 25 years for Mankato Area Public Schools.

The board meets three or four times annually to set broad policy and raise funds. The endowment was $257,527 as of Feb. 29, 2008.
