Scholarship Founders

Truman Wood is a former professor of Political Science/Law Enforcement at MSU, Mankato. Among his thousands of former students are women and men who have made contributions to the Mankato area, Minnesota, the United States and the world. Truman's church involvement, service on the Mankato Planning Commission and participation in local politics are well documented.

Reta Wood taught elementary school 25 years for Mankato Area Public Schools. More than a decade after retirement, she still receives letters and cards from former students thanking her for making a difference in their lives. Many of those young people have gone on to distinguished careers, contributing, as Reta does, to church and civic organizations.
