Middle School/Senior High Division Important Dates

SC/SW Minnesota Regional Science & Engineering Fair Date – February 18, 2012.judge and student

Preferred School Sign-In – November 1, 2011 but no later than December 16, 2011. (An early sign-in will facilitate better communication and enhance the overall quality of the fair.)
Deadline for Project/Paper Registration – Monday, January 9, 2012.
Physical copies of the Research Paper (three sets) will need to be mailed to our office and postmarked no later than January 9, 2012 OR sent electronically, to mary.van-duynhoven@mnsu.edu by 9:00a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Format for electronically sent files, should be a PDF file. Research Paper registrations are still due on January 9, 2012. (Copies of SRC/IRB Certification Forms need to be sent to our office by January 20, 2012. Students should keep originals to be brought on fair day to be signed.)
Deadline for Registration Payment – Tuesday, January 17, 2012.
Deadline for T-Shirt Orders and Payments –Tuesday, January 17, 2012.

There is $20 registration fee per person/per project or research paper.

An additional $5 will be added to each participant's fee when project registration is submitted after January 9, 2012. Any late registration will need to obtain approval from our Science Fair Office. ALL approved late registrations must be accompanied with payment. Late registrations may or may not be listed in fair booklet. No late registrations will be accepted for the research paper competition.

**ABSOLUTELY NO PROJECT REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER FRIDAY, JANUARY 17, 2012! NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN AFTER JANUARY 17, 2012.

 


Elementary Division Important Dates2 girls and project

Deadline for Project Registration – Monday, March 12, 2012.
Deadline for Registration Payment – Friday, March 30, 2012. (There will be no refunds after March 30, 2012.)
Deadline for T–Shirt Orders and Payments – Friday, March 30, 2012.

There is $20 registration fee per person/per project.

Late registrations are discouraged; late registrations may or may not be listed in the fair booklet. Acceptance of late registrations, need to be approved via the Regional Science Fair Office PRIOR to the deadline of March 1, 2012 if possible. ALL approved late registration(s) must be accompanied with payment plus the late fee (total of $25 per person). If your school has conflicts with our deadlines, please call us today at 507-389-2849.

See www.isweeep.org and look for the 3E Sustainable Future Challenge. Deadline to register and submit slide show to them by Feb. 24, 2012. The top 40 middle school student projects will be chosen as Semi-finalists; the top ten will become Finalists and win the full expense paid trip to Houston to compete for Grand Prize during I-SWEEEP International Fair in May. Individual projects only.

Broadcom MASTERS: Society for Science & the Public Middle School Competition

Middle school students will be nominated from the regional level to compete in the Broadcom MASTERS at SSP-affiliated science fairs held in the 2012 school year.  Nominees will enter the competition by completing an online application where they will be asked to explain their science project and to evaluate their use of STEM principles - science, technology, engineering and math - in the development and presentation of their project. Open to 6th through 8th graders. Deadline is near June 1, 2012.

From the national entrants, 300 Semifinalists will be selected along with 30 Finalists who win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., where they will compete for awards and prizes, including the top education award of $25,000 presented by the Samueli Foundation, a gift of Susan and Henry Samueli, a founder of Broadcom Corporation.
