GRIEVANCES
In any
living-together situation, there are bound to be differences in lifestyles and
expectations. It is important that there be some way to deal with the
complaints that naturally will arise. Some issues are best dealt with
immediately and directly, (ÒIÕm trying to sleep/study right now, and would
appreciate your turning down the music and not talking so loud.Ó) Another
solution is a weekly Òhouse meeting,Ó where all living-together issues can be
brought forward, (such as planning the food sharing for the week), and also any
complaints aired.
For
situations that are beyond what roommates themselves can work out, consider
consulting the resources of the Counseling Center (CSU 245, 389-1455) or for legal
grievances, the Student Attorney, (CSU 280, 389-2611) can offer advice on your rights and
possible courses of action.
