Wilson (Secretary) Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Minutes from Sept. 14, 2006 were approved. Reports: President’s Report: Sandy reported that all is going well. The Executive Committee should look for a forthcoming email concerning a request she received. Pres Elect Report: Michele will be forwarding an email to Gregg Sawyer about a request to use theater to promote math. Treasurer's Report: Larry reported that CTAM is in good financial shape ($2,670 in the account). There is no apparent need to increase fees for this year’s convention. Item for discussion: Gregg Sawyer (for the Theater Forum) and the MN Playwrights’ Center have requested funds again. Under a new law, CTAM cannot grant money without being designated a 501C3 organization. Without this designation CTAM cannot offer grants of any kind, cannot fund CTAM on the Road, etc. Consensus was that CTAM needs to apply for this classification and Larry will follow up. Clarification: the CTAM Foundation is under the MN Foundation and they grant the money back to CTAM for funding. Larry will report to the Exec. Board if he needs paid assistance to complete this application. Journal Editor's Report: In absentia. No information to report at this time. Reminder: the journal will be going on-line this year. Newsletter Editor's Report: Sarah reported that the next newsletter will be out in August (deadline: July 15) and this will include a tentative conference program. Request: please be sure to check that Sarah is on your email mailing list. Historian's Report: In absentia. No information to report at this time. Old Business: 1. CTAM elections/nominees update: Secretary: Jan Urtel will run for Secretary. Karen Peterson Wilson will also run again. President Elect: Scott DuRocher and Jody Saxton West will run for Pres. Elect. Denise Aikins has been nominated. Sandy will see if Denise will accept this nomination. 2. Board of Governors – fully staffed. New additions to the BOG: Margaret Kitterman is the new High School Rep. Cheryl Neidt is the MN Speech Coaches Rep. Mark Quinlan has agreed to be the MSHSL Rep on the CTAM Board of Governors. New Business: Selection of Outstanding Individual Awards Michele Neation nominated Cathy Wurzer and Sandy Nieland. Dan Cronn-Mills and Warren Sandman nominated Nan Johnson-Curiskis. Motion was made to accept the three nominations. Seconded and passed. Sandy will follow up with Cathy Wurzer to see if she would be willing to host an open session at the conference. Sandy also received two notes with just names of nominees and she requested more information but no other information has been submitted. 2007 Conference: Radisson Plaza, Rochester, MN. Room cost-$89 plus tax (free parking). Michele reported that the MNSCU discipline workshop has been approved. Details will be forthcoming. The tentative proposal is for the MNSCU group to have a dinner Friday night of the conference and they will be encouraged to register for the CTAM conference and to provide proposals (assessment, online teaching, issues of transfer are possible topics). They will also have a luncheon on Saturday. Michele is one of the co-planners. Michele will follow up with the Rochester Civic Theater so see if a workshop could be provided. No performances are offered at the time of the conference. The Hilton Garden Inn across the street may have available meeting rooms should this be needed before and after lunch. Michele will contact Cheryl Neidt to find out the topics for MN Speech Coaches. Dan- please send out one more call for proposals. Michele will follow up with Chris McDonald about debate offerings. Diana Rehling is the NCA/CSCA Rep. Michele will follow up with Larry about costs of the MNSCU participation. Discussion followed. General consensus was that we should offer brand new CTAM memberships at a reduced amount (perhaps half of the regular fee). Student grants for conference attendance: Larry will get back to the Exec. Board about the status of the 501C3 designation. If this is approved, and it is agreed to offer grants to students again, Dan will include this information on the list serve. Other: Dan raised the topic of institutional memberships for CTAM. Motion was made to offer institutional memberships for $100. Seconded and passed. One free promotion in the CTAM Newsletter plus the newsletter and the journal will be provided. Reminder: CTAM on the Road format needs to be mentioned in every newsletter. Dan mentioned that, since the journal is going on-line, it would be nice for CTAM to recognize Mankato for hosting and maintaining this website with a service fee of $500. Motion was made, seconded and passed. Michele will get folders to Larry for the conference programs and Dan will take care of the printing of conference programs. Meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m. Next meeting of the CTAM Executive Committee will be at 5:30 p.m. on September 13, 2007. Respectfully Submitted, Karen P.
