Meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. Minutes from September 16, 2007 were approved.
President’s Report: Michelle Neaton thanked all involved in the MNSCU workshop in conjunction with CTAM. All went well; feedback is requested from the MNSCU people for further input. Please check out at the front desk for a final accurate account on hotel bills. Angie Anderson will be the new liaison for the MNSCU system.
Past President’s Report: Sandy reported that Jill Lofald has been appointed to represent CTAM on the MSHSL advisory board. CTAM on demand request forms are on the CTAM website; please use the resource. The Arts Consortium a group of educators who are interested in the ongoing support of the arts in education meets at 3:30 at the Perpich Center for the Arts once a month. Sandy called for metro high school teachers to consider attending theses meetings as the timing of the meetings is an issue for teachers coming from the outstate region.
President Elect’s Report: Cliff Janke thanked the CTAM Exec. Board for their support, advice and assistance and offered special thanks Michelle Neaton, Sarah Wolter, newsletter, Dan Cronn Mills for posting the program on the website, Sandy Nieland for all her help and support, and to Karen Wilson for her many years of service to CTAM. A special thanks was announced to Larry Schnoor for all the help with the conference. Recognition was again given to Virginia McFerren for her contributions to the arts in MN. Cliff gave thanks to all of the presenters for their time and talents asking the membership to please thank people in person for sharing their expertise as well as to please submit proposals for CTAM 2009. Please fill out your evaluations as the responses are read and respected.
Treasurer’s Report: Larry Schnoor reported that CTAM is in decent financial condition. The conference has 255 people attending. The treasury is healthy at $17,256 with the stipulation that the individual memberships to MDTA, MSCA and MTA are outstanding.
Historian’s Report: Cindy Carver’s report was given in absentia. History is still being made, please continue to ask her for information at carver@gloria.cord.edu
Journal Editor’s Report: Due to paper and mailing costs the CTAM journal is being piloted online. The journal received 19 submissions last year. Please keep them coming. The journal won the CSCA journal of the Year Award. A new section in the journal is called “on the web”, which is comprised of information, ideas and aides on the web. Please check out the journal and its new components and send feedback to Aileen Buslig at buslig@cord.edu.
Newsletter Editor’s Report: Sarah Wolter reported that the deadline for the November issue is in October. The journal is completely online, with a link from the CTAM website. Watch for further information. If all goes well the November and February will also be online while the august version will be mailed out as usual for Mail information to: swolter@gustavus.edu
Central States/NCA Liaison: Diana Rehling, reported that the two panels recommended by CTAM last year were accepted at Central States. Some NCA awards news is forthcoming from the rep.
Web Master: Dan Cronn Mills reported that the web page is up and running. Let Dan know if you would like to see anything else on the web.
Elections: Ballots were distributed and collected for the following positions.
President Elect: CTAM Executive Council and BOG forwarded the name of Mark Fokken. No nominations were forthcoming from the floor.
Treasurer: Larry Schnoor has been nominated for re-election to treasurer. No nominations were forthcoming from the floor.
A motion was made and seconded to accept the nominations by acclimation. The vote was unanimous.
Presidential Appointments: The Board of Governors is fully staffed at the present time.
Roxy Janke is the new south west representative. Jan Urtel has been appointed secretary for
The remainder of Karen Wilson’s term as Karen resigned due to extenuating duties on her campus.
Awards: National Federation Outstanding Educator in Speech, Theater and Debate Award: Virginia Mc Ferren
Michelle Neaton announced new CTAM Awards: Information and
recommendation forms will be posted on the CTAM website.
New secondary teacher/coach award - First five years of full time teaching.
New college teacher award - First five years of full time teaching.
New adjunct teacher award - no min. or max number of years of service required
Representation: Michele reiterated the call for representation and liaisons for Arts Consortium representative.

New Business: A call was put out for more cross disciplinary sessions for high school and college teachers for future CTAM conferences to engage more discussion in the teaching continuum from high school to college
Kathryn Kelley called for proposals for a global learning conference at Metropolitan State University, Nov. 13-15, 2008. This conference focuses on global studies opportunities for students. Proposals are needed for sessions on universal application forms, universal ways to assess credit, or ideas on offering affordable insurance. Ideas are being shared with the MNSCU chancellors who will be in attendance at this conference.
