November 2004 Approved NIET Approved Motions
- Approve
minutes of the NIET Committee for April 2, 2004.
- Approve
recommendation from the Distinguished Service Award Committee for the 2005
Distinguished Service Award.
- The
Outstanding New Forensics Coaching Award will mirror the Distinguished
Service award. This motion allows
for one award winner, multiple award winners or no award winners to be
designated in a given year.
- Approve
the position description for the AFA-NIET Webmaster including an amendment
to also “maintain and update student-specific content in consultation with
the national student co-chair representatives and the NIET Chair”. The description was also amended so that
appointments will be every two years rather than annually. The complete Webmaster
position description is posted on the NIET homepage.
- Cap
the total number of entries per school at the AFA-NIET at 66.
- Revise
the at-large qualification system as follows:
1 to 4 entries = 1st

5 to 8 entries = 2nd

9 to 12 entries = 3rd

13-16 entries = 4th

17-20 entries = 5th

Over 20 entries = 6th

An undergraduate who judges in the open division of a forensic
tournament (a division which qualifies for AFA-NIET al-large legs), permanently
forfeits his/her eligibility to compete at AFA-NIET District or National
Tournaments.
