November 2004 Approved NIET Approved Motions

1. Approve minutes of the NIET Committee for April 2, 2004.

2. Approve recommendation from the Distinguished Service Award Committee for the 2005 Distinguished Service Award.

3. The Outstanding New Forensics Coaching Award will mirror the Distinguished Service award. This motion allows for one award winner, multiple award winners or no award winners to be designated in a given year.

4. Approve the position description for the AFA-NIET Webmaster including an amendment to also “maintain and update student-specific content in consultation with the national student co-chair representatives and the NIET Chair”. The description was also amended so that appointments will be every two years rather than annually. The complete Webmaster position description is posted on the NIET homepage.

5. Cap the total number of entries per school at the AFA-NIET at 66.

6. Revise the at-large qualification system as follows:

1 to 4 entries = 1^st Place Counts

5 to 8 entries = 2^nd Place Counts

9 to 12 entries = 3^rd Place Counts

13-16 entries = 4^th Place Counts

17-20 entries = 5^th Place Counts

Over 20 entries = 6^th Place Counts

7. An undergraduate who judges in the open division of a forensic tournament (a division which qualifies for AFA-NIET al-large legs), permanently forfeits his/her eligibility to compete at AFA-NIET District or National Tournaments.
