First Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Monday, January 12, 1998

The twenty-first session of the First Board of Directors of the Blue Line Club was convened at 4:12 p.m. by Club President Kent Schwickert. The meeting was held on Monday, January 12, 1998 in the Alumni and Foundation Center conference room on the campus of Mankato State University.

Approval of Agenda

Director Jim Turk moved and Director Steve Due seconded that the meeting agenda for January 12, 1998 be approved. Motion carried.

Minutes of Previous Board Meetings Approved

Director Steve Duea moved and Director Jim Turk seconded that the Board approve the meeting minutes of December 8, 1997. Motion carried.

Secretary-Treasurer's Report - David Cowan

The Club's Secretary-Treasurer reported that $17,247.05 had been spent on Club business since July 1, the beginning of fiscal year 1997-98.

Photo Reprints Authorized

Without objection the Board agreed to authorized the purchase of color photo reprints of banners and message board pictures with Club member names. Each Club member would receive a photo showing their name on a banner and on the message board.

Status of MSU Hockey Sales Campaign - Cheryl Regan

Cheryl Regan then provided the Board with an update on Club member sales and season ticket sales. The Club now has 111 Corporate members and 103 Individual members.

Annual Meeting Date Set - Friday, February 13, 1998

Without objection the Club's Annual Meeting date was established for February 13, 1998, from 5:30 PM to 6 PM at the Club's Hospitality Room in the Mankato Civic Center, Mankato, Minnesota. The Hat Trick newsletter will be used as the notification vehicle required in the Bylaws.

Promotion Works, Inc. Home Games Sales Report

Steve Duea reported that for the first four home games series gross sales of generic MSU hockey apparel and novelties totaled $12,575.38.

Hospitality Room Venue Issues

Director Jim Bullard moved and Jim Turk seconded that the Board recommend to the University that for the 1998-99 home hockey game season that the Club be dedicated new space in the Mankato Civic Center as a permanent home for the Club's hospitality room site.

Golf Tournament as Fund Raiser

Club President Kent Schwickert asked that the Board discuss at a future date the feasibility of taking over the Annual Hockey Golf Classic as a fund raiser to support the Club's Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund. (Cowan agreed to send a solicitation letter to all Club members on or about the first anniversary date of Dan Meyer's untimely death.)
