MSU women's hockey team falls 7-2 against Wisconsin
MADISON, WIS. — The Wisconsin Badgers made short work of Minnesota State Sunday, downing the women Mavericks 7-2 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play at Kohl Center.
Wisconsin scored four first-period goals before Minnesota State could answer early in the second period on a goal by Melanie Salatino.
The Mavericks' final goal came in the third period when defenseman Jen Jonsson snuck a shot from the blue line beneath the Badger goaltender's pads.
Sara Bauer collected a hat trick for Wisconsin, which outshot the Mavericks 36-16.
Wisconsin improved to 20-7-1, 13-7-1 in the WCHA.
Minnesota State fell to 8-14-6, 7-12-3 in the conference.
The Mavericks are at home Friday and Saturday for a WCHA series with Bemidji State.
