By Shane Frederick
Free Press Staff Writer

Three of the top 10 finalists for the 2005 Ms. Hockey Award are bound for Minnesota State.

The award goes to the most outstanding senior girls high school player in Minnesota.

The South St. Paul trio of Maggie Fisher, Felicia Nelson and Ashley Young signed with the Mavericks last November. They have combined to score 427 goals and 318 assists this season.

Fisher has 87 points (41-46) to lead the Packers, who went 25-1 during the regular season. Nelson and Young each have 83 points (44-39 each).

All 10 finalists are Division I bound. The others include: Hill-Murray's Kelsey Fletcher (Clarkson), Hibbing/ Chisholm's Kayla Hagen (Wisconsin), St. Louis Park's Angie Keseley (Wisconsin), Warroad's Gigi Marvin (Minnesota), Duluth Denfeld/Central's Tawni Mattila (Minnesota-Duluth), Eden Prairie's Megan McCarthy (St. Cloud State) and Blaine's Sammy Nixon (St. Cloud State).

The field will be narrowed to five players today, and the award, sponsored by the Let's Play Hockey magazine, will be announced Feb. 20.
