Buckeyes top Mavericks 5-3
COLUMBUS, OHIO — Ohio State outshot Minnesota State 36-15 in a 5-3 WCHA women's hockey victory Friday.
Amanda Stohr scored the opening goal of the game at the 4:52 mark in the first period before Ohio State answered in under a minute to even the game at 1.
Melanie Salatino scored at 8:05 of the first period to give the Mavericks a 2-1 advantage. Ohio State stormed back with two goals before Noelle Needham scored the final Mavericks' goal.
Salatino, Richelle St. Croix, Kerri Wallace and Kristina Bunker each had assists for the Mavericks.
Minnesota State's Laura Brennan made 31 saves.
Minnesota State (8-19-6,7-17-3 in WCHA) plays Ohio State again today at 4:05 p.m.
