Women's hockey team snaps nine-game losing streak

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Minnesota State women's hockey team ended the regular season with a 3-2 Western Collegiate Hockey Association win over Ohio State Saturday, snapping a nine-game losing streak.

The win also secured the fifth seed for the Mavericks in the WCHA playoffs and was just the second win over the Buckeyes in the program's history.

Autumn Conway scored first at the 6:33 mark in the first period, and Cara Hendry earned the assist.

Hendry scored the Mavericks next goal at 17:14 in the third and just over a minute later Amanda Stohr scored the game-winning goal

Kristina Bunker had two assists. Melanie Salatino and Jen Johnson each recorded an assist MSU.

Ohio State outshot MSU 43-28 as freshman goaltender Brit Kehler finished with 41 saves.

MSU (9-16-6, 8-17-3) will play Ohio State (16-15-3, 12-15-1) again March 4 in the first round of the WCHA playoffs. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. at Ridder Arena on the University of Minnesota campus.
