Men's Basketball Ring Ceremony

 



On Thursday, December 2, 2010, the Hoops Club Board of Directors awarded the Men's Basketball team for winning the 2009-10 Nothern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship.

Hoops Club President Liz Brown provided the championship team members with a ring and a handshake.

Mavericks: 4th in Directors' Cup

Minnesota State Mankato advanced to fourth place in the latest Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings -- highest ranking for a Minnesota Division II school.
The standings resulted from the men's basketball team's advance to the National Collegiate Athletic Association regional semifinals. The university received 50 points for the men's basketball accomplishment. Additional Minnesota State Mankato Directors' Cup points came in wrestling, men's indoor track, women's indoor track, men's swimming and women's swimming.
The Mavericks, who ranked sixth until recently, have 394.5 points for the year. Defending champion Grand Valley State is in first place with 710.5 points.
There are 288 schools competing in NCAA Division II. Minnesota Duluth ranks sixth, Augustana is ninth and St. Cloud State is 16th.

In Memorium - Lon S. Coulter

Lon Coulter was a long time Hoops Club Board Member, MSU alumnus, Maverick Basketball fan, and major donor. On July 10th, Coulter lost a struggle with pneumonia. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, July 15th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary, and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.

Hoops Fest 2009

On October 29th, 2009, MSU had their second annual Hoops Fest fundraiser event. This event raised $10,000 by way of a silent auction and $100 dinners. Entertainment featured MSU's Dance Team, Basketball Cheerleaders and the Men's Basketball team.
