Tutoring News

Are you feeling overwhelmed in a particular class?

Get one-on-one help from a tutor!

Don't wait...fill out a tutoring request today! A tutor can answer questions you may have even after attending class and reading the book. A tutor is a great study partner and can help you focus on the processes you are learning in class. To get the most out of your tutoring experience, it is important to go to class, take notes, read the book, do your homework, and study on your own. Prepare questions you may have about the material as you study, bring them to your next tutoring session and your tutor can assist you with the information. Remember, tutors are not professors and do not know everything. They also do not do your homework that is your job! A tutor is there to answer questions and help you understand and reinforce the material and processes you are learning in class.

Tutoring requests will be accepted through Friday, March 4th and on-call writing requests will accepted through Friday, March 25th!

New Tutoring Attendance Policy

Beginning spring semester there will be a new attendance policy in place for tutoring. You will be granted 3 absences to be used any way you would like (including illness and emergencies). If you have a 4th absence, your tutoring will be cancelled. Additional absences will not be granted for illness and emergencies so please keep that in mind and use your absences wisely. You are still expected to give your tutor 3 hours notice when you will not attend a tutoring session.

Tutoring Homework Policy

It is the policy of Student Support Services that tutors DO NOT do assigned homework. Tutors will check the process being used by the student but not the correctness of the answer itself. If the correct process is not being used, the tutor will choose a similar problem to work through with the student. The tutor will work with the student to understand the process. It will then be up to the student to do the assigned homework by him/herself.
