Star Alert

Star Alert is our Emergency Notification System. It allows campus community members to receive text and email notifications in the event of campus-related emergencies.

In the event of an emergency, a Star Alert message will briefly state the location and nature of the emergency, and may include a specific action to take. Star Alert will also be used to notify you if campus is closed or if classes are delayed or cancelled.

  • Current students, faculty and staff at Minnesota State University, Mankato can enroll in Star Alert by going to www.mnsu.edu/password
  • Adding a family member: Once enrolled in Star Alert you can add multiple email addresses and mobile phone numbers of anybody else that may want to be notified in the event of a University emergency. Examples may include parents or spouses.  To do this go to https://mnsu.bbcportal.com/ and create a customizable account. 
  • Other community members can request to recieve Star Alert messages by clicking here, and filling out the online form.

Upon successfully adding a phone number to Star Alert, a text message will be sent indicating that the number has been enrolled. While the Star Alert service is free, you may incur an expense if your phone service provider charges you to receive text messages.
