Note: MSU also sends Social Work students to Helsinki through the Stadia Polytechnic Institute.
You must be accepted to the College of Business for the Helia Business Exchange. All students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing, with a minimum GPA of 2.5. MSU students must enroll in at least 12 credits while in Finland.

MSU Exchange Students are required to take a language/culture course. No previous foreign language experience is required, but is recommended to become familiar with at least a few useful words and phrases.
Helsinki is located in the southern part of Finland on the Gulf of Finland. The population of greater Helsinki is approximately 1,232,000. Due to it's location on the gulf of Finland, Helsinki is a very maritime city, and is sometimes called "The daughter of the Baltic." Helsinki's airport is a direct link with the rest of Europe, and people in Helsinki can also board ferries bound for Stockholm, Sweden and Talinn, Estonia.
HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences recently extended its curriculum beyond merely business classes to include study in the applied sciences. HAAGA-HELIA is the largest business school in Finland and currently has 5,500 students and 400 staff members. HAAGA-HELIA 's academic calendar is similar to MSU's. The fall semester starts in late August and ends in mid December. The spring semester begins in mid January and ends in mid May. For more specific dates, go the Helia website for their calendar.
Accomodation information Exchange students whose HAAGA-HELIA home campus is in Helsinki (Haaga, Malmi, Pasila or Vallila campus) have to apply for accommodation with the HOAS Accomodation application form. Before filling in the application form for accommodation, please read through the instructions on the HOAS home page (choose Exchange-> How to Apply for Housing) carefully! If you do not know which campus will be your home campus in Helsinki, please check it from your home university or from the HAAGA-HELIA International Services.
