Note: The Interior Design Program is suspended and is not accepting new majors. Students who have at least 45 earned semester credit hours toward the Interior Design degree requirements will be accepted for class entrance Fall 2005, only. Choose one of the following two Emphasis, either Interior Design General or Historic Restoration and Preservation:
Choose 18 credits from ART. Contact your advisor for appropriate course selection.
Completion of these General Education Courses does not entirely fulfill the GE requirements.
GPA Policy. A minimum grade of "C" is required in all courses.
P/N Grading Policy. All courses in the major must be taken for letter grade except where P/N is the only option.
For interior design students, the department reserves the right of acquisition and exhibition of work completed in the studios under the guidance of the interior design faculty.
ID 111 (1) Introduction to Design & Construction Management
Overview of academic preparation and career opportunities in the fields of: Construction Management; Facilities Planning and Management; Historic Restoration and Preservation; and Interior Design.
ID 180 (3) Interior Design Fundamentals
Introduction to the elements and principles of design and their application within residential and commercial interior environments.
ID 281 (3) Architectural Graphics
For contractors and designers working in a collaborative process. Emphasis on plan design reading, introduction to architectural hand drafting and CAD, architectural symbols, vocabulary, lettering and three-dimensional illustration techniques.
ID 282 (3) Interior Design Portraiture
An introduction to the principles of interior portraiture including techniques for the creation of three-dimensional design illustrations, color illustration techniques, and presentation formats.

ID 283 (3) Interior Design Lighting & Color
Study of lighting and color principles and theories as major tools in the design of human environments through research, study, and actual problem solving.

ID 284 (3) Basic Computer Aided Drafting for Design and Construction
Provides a basic foundation for computer-aided drafting using CAD. Course includes a hands-on lab designing floor plans, elevation, sections, details, specifications to furnishings, reflected ceiling plans, power plans and isometrics. The focus is on the construction and design professions.

ID 290 (3) History of Decorative Arts I
A history of the Decorative Arts from Prehistoric human development to the European Design Periods, with appropriate historical architectural study.

ID 291 (3) History of Decorative Arts II
A history of the Decorative Arts including American Primitive through Victorian and Mid-19th century through current contemporary design developments, with appropriate historical architectural study.

ID 372 (3) Interior Design Resources
Methods and materials for the design of interior environments. Investigation of residential and commercial materials and product lines.
Pre: ID 180 and 9 credits of Art
ID 381 (4) Interior Design Studio I
Emphasis on large scale residential enviroments to include investigation of luxury resourses and specialty design projects.
Prerequisites: ID 283, ID 284, ID 291, ID 372 and 18 credits of Art
ID 382 (4) Interior Design Studio II
Design of commerical environments emphasizing restaurants, including specialized kitchen and barrier-free design. Scale-model presentation techniques will be explored.

ID 479 (4) Interior Design Product Development
Exploration of designs for interior design and related industries emphasizing product design research and development.
Prereq: ID 381, ID 382
ID 481 (4) Interior Design Studio III
Emphasis on the design of large scale commerical environments with an emphasis on systems planning and the investigation of contract resources. Projects require the schematic development of private and public space.
Prereq: ID 382
ID 482 (4) Interior Design Studio IV
Emphasis on residential environments to include design for a multiple living environment and a detached living environment utilizing medium and high end residential resources.

ID 483 (3) Procedures & Practices in Interior Design
Business practices for the Interior Designer including design contracts, business forms, coordination of documents, and professional ethics. Professional portfolio development through analysis and objective critique.
Prereq: ID 381, 382 and senior standing
ID 485 (4) Interior Design Studio V
Comprehensive Senior Design Thesis. Large scale environment to include all designs aspects of previous studio courses.
Prereq: ID 481, ID 482.
ID 490 (1-4) Workshop: Interior Design & Construction Management
Exploration of techniques, technology and theories relating to design and construction industries. Course may be repeated for credit as content changes.
ID 491 (1-6) In-Service: Interior Design & Construction Management
Advanced study into current developments in design and construction related industries, professional orientation, and affiliations. Course may be repeated for credit as topics change.
ID 492 (1-4) Seminar: Interior Design

Supervised work experience in design or design related field within private business, industry or a government agency.
