Program Description Since 1953, Minnesota State University, Mankato School of Nursing has offered a program leading to a bachelor of science degree with a major in nursing. Three programs exist: Basic Nursing Program, BS Completion Program, and Accelerated Nursing Program. The LPN Option is currently on hold. The program is accredited by the Collegiate Commission on Nursing Education and is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing, which authorizes graduates to take the NCLEX-RN. Graduates are qualified for Public Health Nurse certification and also meet the requirements for school nurse licensure. Students have a variety of clinical experiences in rural and metro/urban settings. The clinical resources include hospitals in Mankato and the Twin Cities area, long-term care facilities, a regional mental health center, and various public health and home care agencies.
Admission Requirements Admission to Major is granted by the School. Admission requirements vary with the type of program. More specific information can be found on the School of Nursing website.
