Program Description	The Educational Studies: K-12 and Secondary Programs department's Undergraduate Programs area prepares students for initial licensure as a professional educator in a K-12 or a 5-12 classroom. *See also:* Early Childhood Education Elementary Education Special Education The following content areas are offered: K-12 Licensure: Developmental / Adapted Physical Education (minor) Physical Education Teaching English as a Second Language Visual Arts Vocal Music and Instrumental Music World Languages and Cultures (French, German, Spanish) 5-12 Licensure: Business Education (articulation with Winona degree) Communications Arts and Literature Family Consumer Science Health Science Mathematics Science (Life Science, Chemistry, Earth and Space, Physics) Social Studies
Admission Requirements	All students working toward a 5-12 or K-12 teaching degree must be admitted to professional education prior to enrollment in Block 2 coursework. Application to professional education should be made when the following requirements have been met: a minimum of 32 earned semester credit hours a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA admission or provisional admission to a teaching field evidence of completion of or registration for the Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST).
Other Requirements	Students majoring in 5-12 and K-12 education must demonstrate competencies in the arts, communications, history, literature, mathematics, philosophy, sciences, social sciences, and multicultural and global perspectives. They must also demonstrate competency in health related issues, including drug use and misuse. Students should visit with the College of Education Student Relations Coordinator for assistance in selecting general education coursework to meet these competencies.
