Program Description Geography is the study of natural and cultural features and processes distributed over the earth. The B.S. degree is primarily oriented towards teachers and emphasizes teaching courses either within the Social Studies curriculum or the Earth Sciences major. Both of these degrees may be fine-tuned towards prospective teachers. There are several options available within the degree program with three clear concentrations available to students:
  • Resource and Environmental Studies, incorporating courses in Environmental Resource Issues, Conservation and Environmental Assessment
  • Geographic Techniques incorporating Cartography, Air-Photo Interpretation, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Climatology and Weather Analysis incorporating Meteorology and Applied Climatology courses
Admission Requirements Admission to Major is granted by the department.
Minimum University admission requirements are:
  • a minimum of 32 earned semester credit hours
  • a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 (C)
