The Somali student association serves as an organization dedicated to raising the level consciousness throughout the campus community. This is done through cultural, academia, social and spiritual programming which familiarizes the campus with the Somali experience. The student’s involvement and community advocacy has dual role of empowerment and advocating on behalf of Somali student and educating majority and minority students of values a benefit of diversity. This association also acts as the middle passage for most Somali students who have problems in comprehending and stating their thoughts and that of others. This association will also act as a guardian to the newly arrived Somali students who have very little or zero knowledge of ways universities operate.
