What is a Talent Grant and what are the students' commitments?

A Freshman Talent Grant or Transfer Talent Grant may be awarded to an incoming student who meets Minnesota State Mankato admission stands and who plans to enroll as a Theatre & Dance major or plans to participate in theatrical activities. Grants are available to all majors and minors, whether they are planning to concentrate in the role of acting, musical theatre, design/technology, theatre generalist or dance.

Requirements during the year include enrolling in a minimum of 12 hours per semester and participating in at least three Mainstage (or equivalent) productions per year. Failure to do so may result in the loss of the grant.

Actors and dancers will be required to take part in an audition (specifics available on the Talent Grant form itself, which is downloadable here); designers/technicians will be interviewed by the staff and will be asked to bring samples or photographs of their previous work. The next auditions/interviews are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008; application forms should be returned to us no later than Aug. 8, 2008. If you cannot make that deadline, contact Mike Lagerquist, Director of Public Relations, at mike.lagerquist@mnsu.edu or 507-389-2118.
