Meet Some of Our
Working Alumni:
Jacleen Olson

Jacleen Olson
Jacleen Olson appeared in the summer of 2013 in 9 to 5 the Musical in Minnetonka,
directed by another MSU alum, Trent Boyum.

It has been difficult for Jacleen Olson to watch her classmates succeed. It's certainly not
that she didn't want Claire Wellin, who played her daughter in Mame, to reach Broadway in
the cast of Once; and it's not that she didn't want her Robber Bridegroom and Beauty and the Beast
co-star Jared Oxborough to enjoy Twin Cities theatre glory. It's just that with her recovery from cancer,
she couldn't be there to share it with them.

Today, it would be hard to believe Jackie is behind. In the summer of 2013 she played Roz, the lovesick and
misunderstood secretary in 9 to 5 the Musical at Minnetonka, belting out the songs just as she had as
Mama Rose at Minnesota State Mankato. She calls herself competitive, so you know she will quickly
be at her prime again...if she isn't there already.

And she says the time away from theatre has helped strengthen her resolve to make the most out of what
theatre has to offer her. She's also making plans to return to school to get that teaching degree she has
always dreamed of. Soon she may be starring at the front of the classroom as well as the stage.
