What Renovation Entails
The new community bathroom layout will expand the current footprint and be more accessible and inclusive for residents. It will feature:
- Four individual toilet/shower combination rooms with floor-to-ceiling lockable doors.
- Two individual toilet rooms with floor-to-ceiling lockable doors.
- Two individual shower rooms with floor-to-ceiling lockable doors.
- Three sinks.
The renovation also includes the addition of a floor laundry room on each floor of B Hall. Each laundry room will have two washers and two dryers.
B Hall rooms are currently offered at the Renovated room rate. These renovations are funded by Residential Life reserves.
Why We Are Renovating
We need to renovate these bathrooms because of the leaks in the 65-year-old plumbing. We are taking the opportunity to improve the layout, accessibility, and amenities of these bathrooms while the plumbing infrastructure is addressed.
Why Doesn't the University Renovate in the Summer?
Three months is not enough time to demolish and renovate four floor bathrooms, due to the extensive amount of work that needs to occur and the lead time on ordering products.
Did you Notify Students you were Closing B Hall?
Yes! In October 2023, we notified all current residents via the weekly department newsletter that B Hall would be closed for the Fall 2024 semester due to the facility project.
Also, B Hall rooms were removed from the list of available room options for the 24-25 academic year so that students could not select them.
Will B Hall Be Occupied in Spring 2025?
Yes, residents from Crawford A Hall will move to B Hall for the Spring 2025 semester as A Hall will go under community bathroom renovation in January 2025.
