To provide housing and supportive services to low income families and individuals.

Statement of Purpose
Partners for Affordable Housing (PAH) believes it is essential that affordable housing and temporary shelter be available to those in need. The public interest is best served when all citizens have the opportunity to properly house themselves and their families in comfort and safety, and the cost of housing should not disproportionately deplete the already stretched finances of the poor and homeless.

Programs

Programs
The Welcome Inn provides emergency and short-term transitional housing for homeless and near-homeless individuals and families. Program participants reside at the Welcome Inn, have access to a social worker, and enjoy the security of a facility that is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with on-site paid employees and community volunteers.

Programs
Welcome Home provides long-term transitional housing (up tp 24 months) for homeless, near-homeless and low income individuals and families. Program participants reside in their own home, but have access to social worker. During an average year, Welcome Home will serve 30 to 35 people. Typically, one third of the total served are adults and two thirds are children.

Programs
The Liberty Homes and Apartments Program provides permanent, affordable housing for low income individuals and families and those with special needs. PAH's Liberty Homes and Apartments Program serves over 30 people, and, though most are single adults, the program also accommodates families when possible.

RentWise - Tenant Education Program

The RentWise program is designed to help participants learn more about communication, conflict resolution, money management, finding a place to live, rental application and rental agreements/leases, moving in and out without hassles, and caring for and cleaning of rental housing. A certificate is issued once the participant has completed six hours of classes split between two separate sessions on the second Monday and Tuesday of the month 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM. A $10 fee is charge to cover course supplies and materials. Teachers are trained by the University of Minnesota Extension Service.

Home Stretch - Home Buyer Education Program

The Home Stretch program is designed to help those who are considering buying their first home. Classes are offered at sites in North Mankato, Fairmont, Blue Earth, St. Peter, New Ulm, Minnesota State University, South Central College and Faribault. Supporters of the program are quick to emphasize the value of the education in relation to whether home buyers are successful in helping Minnesota achieve its tremendous home ownership rate. Yet, they are continually looking at how to save the emotional buyer from seeing themselves in future mortgage foreclosure listings. Home Stretch identifies the entire process first time buyers will face.
