 Our Mission

The mission of the Women's Center is to foster a healthy, safe, and engaging campus community by enabling the full and active participation of women students in both their personal and educational pursuits at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Women's Center provides programs, connections, advocacy, services and leadership opportunities for all MSU students.

Our Vision

It is our vision that through collaborative, process-oriented connections, the Women's Center inspires, empowers and mobilizes coalitions in pursuit of a nonsexist, inclusive, nonviolent world.

It is our guiding value to empower women to:

  •        Develop individual identities
  •        Find healthy role models
  •        Develop self-confidence
  •        Identify career options
  •        Unearth hidden talents
  •        Choose nontraditional alternatives
  •        Dispel stereotypes
  •        Celebrate diversity
  •        Achieve individual and collective goals
  •        Become social change agents

What we do

The Women’s Center provides numerous programs and events each year. Topics range from sexual assault and sexual violence to women’s health and wellness to women’s history and empowerment. The Women’s Center is home to the Sexual Violence Education Program and sponsor of each annual Vagina Monologues. Some of our annual events include, Women of Courage in Vision Awards, Love Your Body Day- Health and Wellness Fair, Eating Disorders Awareness Week, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, just to name a few!

The Women’s Center is a great place for students to get involved! We have two great opportunities available for leadership and personal development. The Student Programming Board is the creative arm of the Women’s Center. This group of motivated, dedicated women help the Women’s Center plan and implements events and activities which help raise awareness to women’s issues.

The Women of Action Committee (WAC) is a group of students who are aimed at providing an atmosphere on campus where women can be comfortable in their own skin and can feel empowered through the work of the Women’s Center. WAC helps fulfill the mission of the Women’s Center by volunteering at our events and raising awareness about women’s issues.
