Welcome!

The Women's Center would like to welcome back our returning staff and friends. We have many exciting events this semester, such as the Vagina Monologues in February, Women's History Month in March, and we plan to continue recognizing the many women who rock on campus, as well as our "regulars" like the Brown Bag Lunch Series, and the nontraditional students' coffee group. We'd also like to introduce two new groups we support-the parenting and the veteran's group.
As always, we appreciate your support and feedback. If you see something you like, dislike, or want to change, please let us know by emailing deirdre.rosenfeld@mnsu.edu or calling the Women's Center at 389-6146.

V-Day Smitten Kitten Shopping Trip

Saturday 2/5/05
Meet at noon for a ride, otherwise shop online or transport yourself at your own schedule
Meet at noon in lot 11A

Shop at The Smitten Kitten to raise funds for V-Day 2005 MSU!

On Saturday, February 5, 2005 The Smitten Kitten will be hosting a fundraiser to help support our violence prevention efforts.  This fundraiser is in conjunction with our upcoming production of "The Vagina Monologues." The Smitten Kitten is a gender-friendly erotic boutique & sex toy store owned and operated by 3 MSU grads.  The store will donate 20% of all in-store and online sales made that day to our V-Day/"Vagina Monologues" violence prevention work.
You are invited to take a shopping trip to Minneapolis on Saturday, February 5 not only to buy some self-indulgent products in a wonderful environment, but also to support a great cause.  The Women's Center is coordinating two minivans to help manage carpooling.  We'll meet up in parking lot 11A (between the CSU and the rugby pitch) at noon.  RSVP to Deirdre for a spot in the van (389-6146, deirdre.rosenfeld@mnsu.edu).  You can browse or shop The Smitten Kitten online at smittenkittenonline.com or by calling (612) 721-6088.  Their store, located at 2223 East 35th Street in Minneapolis, is open from 11 AM to 9 PM on Saturday.

For more information about this shopping trip or V-Day, please contact Deirdre by email (deirdre.rosenfeld@mnsu.edu) or by phone (389-6146).
We celebrate The Smitten Kitten for their commitment to making the world a better place for women and in turn all people.  Please participate and share information about this fundraising event with others.
We hope to see you there!

Steel Magnolias

Concerned with a group of gossipy southern ladies in a small town beauty parlor, Steel Magnolias is alternately hilarious and touching-and, in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness that underlies the antic banter of the characters as young Shelby becomes pregnant, even though she knows she risks her life to do so. The hit 1989 movie featured Julia Roberts, Sally Fields, Daryl Hannah, and Dolly Parton.  Dates and times: 7:30 pm on Feb. 2-6 & 9-13 along with 2:00 p.m. matinees on Feb 6 & 13th. Tickets are available on January 24 by calling the Box Office at 507-389-6661. You can also reserve them online at the MSU Theatre's website.
