This stunning film, the first to be made in a post-Taliban Afghanistan and inspired by a newspaper account read by director Siddiq Barmak, recounts the efforts of a family of women to survive under an oppressive regime. To eke out a meager living, they dress up their 12 year-old girl, Osama, as a boy so she can work. A story full of hope and triumph, Osama boasts non-actors, including Marina Golbahari, Arif Herati and Zubaida Sahar.

Join us at the Coffee Hag for a night of laughs!
Comedic storyteller and singer Mary Mack who performs in theatres and comedy clubs nationally recounts stories of life as a former polka band leader, music teacher and all-around confused individual. Audience members can often be caught participating in Mack's "grown-up" sing-alongs about small town antics and other "less normal" topics.

Take Back the Night 2005

Take Back the Night 2005 is coming on Wednesday, April 20th. From 6-8pm, we're assembling on the MSU Mall to re-dedicate ourselves to ending sexual violence. Take Back the Night is a public declaration that we all have the right to live without fear of rape or shame by day or by night. This is more than a moonlit stroll-it's your chance to express real support for your friends, family, and community. As always, we will have a "speak out" time for everyone. Come stand for the day when we are all safe in our minds, in our bodies, in our homes, and in our world. "Take back your life," at this year's Take Back the Night celebration and vigil.

If you wish to express yourself through poetry, movement, song, etc, please contact us in advance for preparations. If you need more information or wish to participate, please contact Anika Cristwell at 507.389.2486 or anika.cristwell@mnsu.edu.
